Late last week, online poker room PokerStars deployed their ‘Run It Twice’ option in real money games. Players will be able to use this new feature on specific games at the real money tables at PokerStars. Over the past few weeks, the option was in testing mode and now has been approved for real money play. The new option is now available after PokerStars updated their client software, making the option open.
‘Run It Twice’ is an option that was first introduced to online poker back in 2008 via Merge Gaming. At that time, the option was titled ‘deal it twice’ and was later added to Full Tilt Poker, under a different name. The idea of the option first became popular with high stakes cash game play and the public became aware of the option thanks to reality poker shows such as High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark.
‘Run It Twice’ refers to an option that is used when two players are all-in before the river occurs. If both players are in agreement, the rest of the board will be dealt twice. If a both players are able to win once, then the pot is split between the two.
Currently the new feature is only available on a single full ring $0.50/$1 PLO Game and PokerStars has yet to announce if the feature will be available on other real money games. If players begin to use the option, it would be likely that they will offer the feature for other games.
Players will have to turn on the feature in their settings to be able to have the option during an all-in situation. Players have three opportunities to use the new feature: before the flop takes place, before the turn and before the river card.
