Ari Engel Pushing for WSOP Circuit Record

After winning the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond Event #8, Ari Engel is now in the running to tie record holders Mark “Pegusus” Smith and Kyle Cartwright, with having five rings. Engel won the event this past Thursday and the win gave him his fourth WSOP Circuit ring.

Engel was able to defeated the 222 player field of the $1,125 no limit hold’em tournament and earn the top prize of $55,503 as well as his fourth circuit ring. Engel started final table play of the event in the middle with chips but after the day was done he defeated Darren Rabinowitz to take the first place win.

With the win, Engel is just one ring short of tying with Mark Smith and Kyle Cartwright, who both have five rings each. Engel has played the circuit for six years and has done well and would love to soon become the all time ring leader. Engel commented on his win this past Thursday by stating:

“Winning a fifth gold ring is something I’m definitely after. I really respect the other players who have five rings, but I am going to try and go after the record.”

It will be interesting to see if Engel will be able to break the record and how long it may take him to do so. So far, the pro is right on track and it might not be long before he earns his fifth and the then sixth WSOP Circuit bracelet, becoming the record bracelet holder!
