As one of the top online poker providers in the state of New Jersey, Party Poker has just announced a new online poker series set to begin this April. The new series is titled the New Jersey Online Poker Championship and will offer ten events running from the 19th to the 27th of April.
Party Poker has released a tentative schedule for the inaugural series which will include a $200,000 guaranteed Main Event as well as a $50,000 freeroll event. The series will be open to players at both PartyPoker NJ and Borgata Poker, both which operate on the same network.
The series will begin with the $50,000 freeroll and will continue with nine additional events. The remaining events will have buy-ins of $50 to $200 all of the no limit hold’em variety. Every tournament except one is a freezeout and there will also be two 6-max tournaments in the series.
An interesting event is listed on the schedule as the 7th tournament, Players Choice. This tournament is being discussed among players at the customer support forum at Party Poker. Players are discussing the buy-in and format type while the tournament should offer at least $15,000 guarantee. The main event of the new NJOPC series will be a $200 buy-in tournament with $200,000 in guaranteed prize money. First place is guaranteed $50,000 and this will be the largest guaranteed tournament to date at the site.
Despite the low buy-ins it would not be surprising if both the Borgata and PartyPoker sites announce satellites and qualifiers for the new series over the next few weeks. According to Pokerfuse, the PartyPoker announcement of the tentative NJOPC schedule is to determine the interest of the company including if players like the event buy-ins, format and structure of the new series. It will be interesting to see if any additional changes are made before the final schedule is released by Party Poker.
