According to several media reports and forum postings over the past few days, players apparently had a difficult time with connecting to Bovada last weekend. Players were unable to log in to the desktop client, which made one believe that gaming servers were being blocked. The players affected were on ISP Comcast and both Bovada and Comcast have since responded to the connection issues.
Bovada stated that the problem is being addressed and representatives of the US version of Bodog have emailed players as well as posted instructions to help connect to the site via social media. According to a report by Pokerfuse, the block seems to be with the Comcast Domain Name Server (DNS). The DNS is used to map a web address and change it to the numerical IP address.
With the issues that players have reported, it seems as though Comcast has blocked access to the Bovada.LV site from the DNS. However, there were players who reported that other ISPs were having connectivity issues as well. Bovada also reported via Twitter that the problem may not be only with Comcast.
Comcast is now reporting that they are not the reason why players could not access Bovada. A customer shared an email with Pokerfuse which was received from the Comcast National Engineering & Technical Operations. The email denies responsibility in the connection issues and stated that the claims are ‘incorrect’ and Comcast ‘is not blocking that or any other site’ and ‘would not do so’.
The email further stated that when similar issues are observed the problem has been with the site owner’s authoritative DSN servers or the records. Bovada has now responded via Twitter yet again stated that the technical issues from the past weekend should be resolved within the next 24 hours and ask that players remain patient as they work on the problem.
