On August 1st, Amaya Gaming announced that the PokerStars and Full Tilt acquisition is now complete. The group was given the go-ahead by shareholders last week to continue with a $4.9 billion investment of Oldford Group Ltd, which is the parent company of Rational Group. Rational Group is of course, the owner and operator of both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.
With the announcement, Amaya Gaming stated that 100% of the issued and outstanding shares of the Oldford Group Limited have been acquired. David Baazov, the Chairman and CEO of Amaya Gaming, stated that Amaya is pleased to have completed the acquisition. Mark Scheinberg, the CEO and the founder of the Rational Group, is confident that the Amaya group will be able to work with Rational Group’s leadership to continue to grow the business successfully in the future.
Scheinburg continued to state that while he and other founders are leaving the company, they are happy to see the business as well as the PokerStar and Full Tilt brands being moved to ‘strong new ownership’. Sheinberg also stated that with innovation, customer service and the talented and dedicated workforce were able to grow the business each year since PokerStars launched in 2001. With the latest acquisition, PokerStars as well as Full Tilt Poker will be able to move forward and continue offering the best in online poker gaming.
Now that the acquisition is complete, the brands of Rational will now be operating under Amaya Gaming. According to PokerNews, Baazov believes that the acquisition will now allow ‘a global online gaming powerhouse’ to take place in the large and growing online gaming market. We may also see PokerStars reentering into the US very soon now that the former founders have left the company and Amaya is now at the head. It would not be surprising if over the next few weeks, we hear even more news of PokerStars, Full Tilt and Amaya Gaming.
