With every fall season, the Poker Hall of Fame announces the latest finalists to be up for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony takes place during the World Series of Poker Main Event so the finalists have to be determined before November, so voting can take place on who will be the next inductees. Currently, ten players have made the cut and will now be voted on to see who will be the next to become a member of this prestigious group.
The following candidates have been nominated for induction:
Daniel Negreanu
Jennifer Harman
Humberto Brenes
Mike Matusow
Chris Bjorin
Huck Seed
Bruno Fitoussi
Bob Hooks
Ted Forrest
Jack McClelland
There are several new people nominated that have never been nominated before while others have been down this road before without earning a spot in the group. Harman, Bjorin and Seed have all been nominated three times but never made the final cut. Hooks, Forrest, McClelland, Fitoussi and Negreanu are all first timers to the Poker Hall of Fame nominations.
The list of individuals up for nomination was submitted and will now be voted on by living members of the Poker Hall of Fame as well as a panel of media experts. A total of 21 members will be voting from the Hall of Fame and 20 individuals make up the media panel.
Every person nominated has contributed to the game of poker in some form or fashion, each in their own unique way. In most cases, the Hall of Fame will induct one to two members each year after the voting takes place. This year, several top pros are up for nomination as well as members of the original Texas Rounders so it will be interesting to see who makes the cut and becomes the next members of the group, which was first created back in 1979.
