Poker pros seem to be dropping left and right these days as top poker sites are saying goodbye to seasoned pros and poker team members. The latest instance of a poker pro losing a spot comes from PokerStars. It was reported this week that Joe Cada was no longer working with PokerStars as a sponsored pro, and speculation was rampant as to why the pro was no longer associated with the site. F5Poker reported the story yesterday and today has enlightened those interested in the reasoning that Cada was denied a 100% rakeback from the poker room.
Cada took to Twitter and stated that it anyone is wondering what happened between him and the site, it was simple. Cada says he requested a 100% rake back and they said no. Basically Cada was given 100% rakeback in the past. Ryan Laplante responded to the post asking why PokerStars would not give Cada the 100% and said the move was poorly played by the online poker site. Cada responded stating he asked for zero money and just wanted the rakeback that he used to get.
Gavin Griffin got in on the Tweets by stating that PokerStars has to have a line where they will keep him (Cada) or not and that line is way less $ than it used to be. Cada then responded stating: “They have no line. I never heard of a company charging someone to use their product when they’re sponsored by that company.”
Cada had originally signed with PokerStars back in 2009 and it seems as though his time was up at the poker room. Despite the fact he is without the sponsorship, Cada has now signed a new deal with a Norwegian Cruise Line so he can now travel on a luxury ship as the featured player, not a bad gig at all!
