Just last week, we reported that the Mohegan Sun had launched a new online casino in the state of New Jersey. The online gaming offering was in the soft phase, with testing taking place to determine full operation in the state. Based in Connecticut, the Mohegan Sun had to receive approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement before the site would be fully operational. After testing of geo-location features, payment processing and player verification, the site has now earned approval by the state’s DGE.
Now that the MoheganSunCasino.com has passed the testing phase, the online casino platform of real money will now be able to operate under a license held by Resorts Casino Hotel. Now officially launched, the Mohegan Sun now becomes the latest operator to offer casino gaming in the state of New Jersey.
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has the gaming property in Connecticut as well as operating in Pennsylvania at the Mohegan Sun Pocono. The group is also the managers of the Resorts Casino Hotel of Atlantic City. The President of MTGA, Bobby Soper, stated that the goal for the new online casino is to become the premier online destination for serious gamers and those who want to relax and have a good time.
The casino currently does not offer online poker gaming but does include video poker among their offerings. The Resorts Casino Hotel has partnered with PokerStars and would be able to offer online poker once they receive approval for operation within the state.
Resorts Casino continues to bring additional online gaming to New Jersey for players to enjoy. The President and CEO of the Resorts Casino Hotel, Mark Giannantonio, told PokerNews that the full launch of the Mohegan Sun Casino site will not affect the deal the casino has with PokerStars.
