For almost two years now, the state of Delaware has offered online poker gaming and tried to keep up with the likes of Nevada and New Jersey, the only other states that offer online gaming in the US. Delaware has the smallest market of the three and has done well with online casino gaming but poker seems to be taking a hit for the past three months consecutively.
The Delaware Lottery has reported the latest findings of the online poker network in the state, which has three racetrack casinos operating online in both poker and casino gaming. The state was able to bring in only $28,158 for July, the third lowest figure on a monthly basis since the site launched back in November of 2013. This is an eight percent drop from June and a ten percent drop when compared year-over-year.
Officials in Delaware had hope that once the state and Nevada shared player liquidity, the numbers would improve. Both the WSOP.com of Nevada and the network in Delaware network use 888poker software and hoped that the two player pools would encourage more individuals to log online and earn revenues for both states. However, this has not been the case.
When comparing the online poker offerings of all three racinos, it has been Dover Downs that has suffered the most. The online poker earnings of the Dover Downs has decreased by almost half when compared year-over-year with a 26% monthly drop for the July reports as compared to June.
Online casino gaming has done much better yet the overall totals when combining casino and poker are also promising. For the month of July, Delaware was able to earn $142,083 from the gaming sites which includes poker, video lottery and casino games. This is the highest number since March and also a 30% increase when compared to June.
