For the month of November, operators of online gambling in the state of New Jersey were able to earn $13.2 million. This is a huge month of earnings, especially when compared to November of 2014. The state only earned $8.7 million for the same month last year, taking in over $4 million in 2015. This is an increase of over 50%, setting a new monthly record for online gaming in New Jersey.
March held the previous record for the highest monthly earnings, at $13.16 million, with November barely edging out this number. In total, the online gaming industry in the state has earned $266 million since launching in 2013.
Breaking down the info released by the gambling regulators of New Jersey, we see that the Borgata was able to earn the most, with $4.1 million in revenues. The Tropicana was next in line with $2.97 million and Caesars next with $2.7 million in earnings.
The online poker numbers show a total of $1.96 million earned in November, which is an increase of just over 4% in revenues compared to the same time last year. Online casino revenues tend to drive earnings for the state as the online casino games bring in more money than online poker. However, the poker industry should see a nice increase once PokerStars is live in New Jersey.
PokerStars received their license to operate earlier this year and information suggests that the conditions of the license should be completed sometime in early 2016. To help with the gambling industry, lawmakers have created a plan to allow for casinos outside of Atlantic City. The plan calls for a referendum for November 2016 to make the changes. With four casinos shutting down in Atlantic City last year, some type of change needs to be made to benefit the overall gaming industry within the state.
