Changes continue at online poker room PokerStars, with the recent being the elimination of regular heads-up cash gaming tables. Today marks the elimination of the gaming option, after players received emails of the removal of said tables earlier this week. The heads-up tables will be replaced with Zoom Poker tables.
The brief email stated that on February 12th, the No Limit Hold’em, Fixed Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha Heads-Up regular tables would be removed from the site. These games would be replaced with Zoom pools.
The email continued by stating that the Heads-Up Zoom tables are already offered in most stakes and PokerStars would be adding $50/$100 tables. Zoom No Limit Hold’em Cap games will also be added at stakes of up to $25/$50. PokerStars reiterated that this change was done as part of their commitment to reduce predatory behavior and improve the recreational player gaming experience.
Predatory behavior is in reference to players who seek out weaker targets. The weaker player will lose money quickly to the professional, then would most likely not play or even find another poker home. With the Zoom Poker tables, there is no way that players can seek out weaker members. Players are seated automatically so there is no wait to hunt for the lesser skilled player.
PokerStars has been busy making such changes to create a more recreational based gaming environment. Changes to the VIP program in regards to Supernova and Supernova Elite players caused a stir recently, with players actually boycotting the site. A meeting was conducted to discuss the matter, though no imminent changes are going to be made in regards to the VIP structure. PokerStars is also preparing to enter the New Jersey online poker market this year, with all eyes on the brand as they enter the United States to offer their services.
