Online poker tournament series are popping up everywhere this spring as top operators set to outdo the other. Partypoker is preparing for Powerfest while the WSOP offered the Spring Poker Series, which finished up last week. 888poker has now announced their upcoming tournament event, the Super XL Series, coming this May. Players at 888poker will be able to compete for a portion of $3 million in guaranteed prize money this May with the fifth edition of the Super XL Series.
The 888poker series will kick off on the 14th of May and continue through the 22nd. There will be 40 events on the tournament schedule including the Main Event set for the final day, the 22nd. The Main Event will have a $1 million guaranteed prize pool with a total of $3 million up for grabs overall, guaranteed.
The standard format of the Super XL Series offers players a mini event, main event and turbo version of every tournament on the schedule. This allows players with smaller bankrolls as well as those with less time on their hands to compete. Buy-ins start as low as $5, making events very affordable. For the high roller, the series will include the $400k GTD High Roller event as well as the Main Event, with a buy-in of $1,050.
The tournament series will begin with the $88,888 GTD Crazy 8 Super XL Kickoff event which will have a buy-in of $88. This event is structured based on the Crazy Eights 8 handed no limit hold’em game that can be found at the World Series of Poker. To coincide with the similar structure, the event will provide the winner with a seat to the WSOP Event #54 tournament.
The last time the Super XL Series took place was back in January when $2 million was offered in guaranteed prize money. 888poker has upped their game, adding an additional $1 million in prize money this go round. Two new tournaments have also been added to the schedule.
