The World Series of Poker has been busy over the past few months hosting the 2017 WSOP at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino of Las Vegas. With the Main Event about to finish up, the WSOP is now moving on to provide poker players with more info on events set to take place outside the US. The 2017-2018 WSOP International Circuit schedule has now been announced and includes 13 events, with more stops expected to be added in the future.
The first stop of the 2017-2018 WSOP International Circuit will take place in Iguazu, Argentina and will begin just a short time after the Main Event of the WSOP comes to an end. From August 2nd to the 8th, Casino Iguazu will play host to the circuit stop.
As the schedule is in its early stages, only the dates and place of the event are included. In some instances, only the month or season is available as details are being worked out. Gregory Chochon is the Director of the WSOP who stated that the partner casinos have done a good job of bringing the WSOP brand and experience to their venues.
With each stop on the International circuit, players will have the ability to quality for the WSOP Global Casino Championship, which takes place at the season’s end. The event is invitation-only and has a $1 million prize pool minimum. The winner of each circuit stop’s Main Event will be a qualifier for the Championship as well as the player who earns the most points in the ring events of a tour stop.
On a side note, the top 100 players of the 2017 WSOP Player of the Year standings will be given the ability to buy-in to the Championship event of the International Circuit for $10,000 which would help to increase the overall prize pool.
