San Antonio Needs to Knock Down Shots
San Antonio might have been able to steal game 2 in Oracle Arena Monday night, but they had a historically bad shooting night. The Spurs were just 4-28 on 3 point field goal attempts for a percentage of 14.3. San Antonio must knock down open shots during game 3 if they want to have a chance to keep up with the Warriors.
The Spurs will still be playing without the services of All Star Kawhi Leonard for game 3. In his absence, LaMarcus Aldridge has led the Spurs, including a 34 point, 12 rebound effort in game 2. The Warriors will be forced to double down on Aldridge moving forward, which makes the outside shooting of the Spurs even more crucial.
No Curry, No Problem
The Golden State Warriors have been without former MVP Stephen Curry for the first two games of this series, but it has not slowed them down. In game two, both Kevin Durant (32) and Klay Thompson (31) eclipsed the 30 point mark to help pace Golden State. Those two players, along with Draymond Green will look to take a 3-0 series lead on Thursday night.
The Warriors are known for playing solid defense and their effort helped contribute to the Spurs rough shooting in game 2. The Warriors length and athleticism should continue to provide a challenge to the Spurs. Even without Stephen Curry, the Warriors have plenty of firepower to win a playoff game on the road.
Warriors Don’t Let Up
The Golden State Warriors know that they can’t allow a veteran team like the Spurs to have any hope. The Spurs know that if they can win game 3 then they begin to put some pressure back on the Warriors. Game 3 should be the most highly contested game in this series so far, and will come down to a play or two late.
Kawhi Leonard’s absence leaves the Spurs looking for a playmaker late in the game. The Warriors however, have plenty of options down the stretch in close ballgames. Look for the Spurs to keep this close, but the Warriors to get the game 3 victory. Bet the Golden State Warriors -3 over the Spurs in game 3.
