The Philadelphia Phillies visit Miller Park in Milwaukee to take on the Brewers on Friday night. First pitch will be at 7:10 pm central. Philadelphia is 35-31 so far this year, good enough for third place in the National League East division, 4 games behind the division leading Atlanta Braves. Meanwhile, the Brewers are 41-27, putting them 1 and a half games ahead of the Cubs.
Jake Arrieta will be on the mound for the Phillies. Arrieta is 5-4 on the year, and has a 2.97 Earned Run Average. For Milwaukee, Brent Suter will get the starting nod. Suter is 6-4, and has a 4.61 ERA. With both pitchers having good years, this seems like it had the potential of being a duel. Milwaukee is favored in this matchup: at -135.

Philadelphia Phillies
Odubel Herrera has been the man for the Phillies this year. He is batting .286, which leads the team. He has also driven in 34 runs. He also gets on base nearly 34% of the time, which is something he will need to do against Milwaukee.
Cesar Hernandez is also doing pretty well this season. He is batting .256 so far this year, and has driven in 22. He also has 10 stolen bases, so Suter will have to be cognoscente whenever he is on the basepaths.
Look for these two men to potentially be factors in how this game plays out. The Phillies will need to do their best to get men on base, so their two most consistent hitters can drive them in. They are also threats to score when they themselves get on base, making them doubly dangerous.
Milwaukee Brewers
With Tyler Saladino sidelined, other Brewers will need to step it up at the plate. Christian Yelich has been playing very well offensively. He is hitting .302, and has driven in 28. These stats paint him as a dangerous run producer. Lorenzo Cain has also been playing well, with a .288 average. He has also driven in 22 runs. Holding true to the speedster that he was in Kansas City, he has also stolen 13 bases. His plate discipline has also pushed his on-base percentage up to nearly 39%. Arrieta will need to be careful when Cain is at the plate.
Milwaukee Tops Philadelphia
As good as Jake Arrieta has been throughout his career, I think that the Brewers have a good chance of hitting him. The Brewers have the advantage in the fact that he spent a good part of his career playing for the Cubs, a Milwaukee divisional rival. That means that, walking into Miller Park, he will still feel some of the leftover divisional pressure. I see a game that, if Suter can continue to pitch it well, is entirely winnable for Milwaukee. If Lorenzo Cain is able to get on base a few times, via the hit or the walk, watch out. I see Milwaukee winning in a potential close game. Bet the Milwaukee Brewers @ -135.
