The Chicago White Sox visit Progressive Field in Cleveland Monday night, where they will face off with their divisional rival Indians. First pitch will be at 6:05 pm central. The South Siders were winning some games last week and the week before, winning series against the Red Sox and Brewers (And splitting four games with these Indians), before getting swept by the hot Tigers. They sit at 24-46, in fourth place in the American League Central division, leading only the Royals. Cleveland, however, is on the other side of things at 37-33. They are in first place of the day same division, leading Detroit by 2 games.
Dylan Covey, who has been brilliant in his last couple starts (Including out dueling Chris Sale), will be on the mound for the White Sox. He is 3-1 so far this year, and has a 2.29 ERA. For the Tribe, Trevor Bauer will get the starting nod. Bauer is 5-5 on the year, and has a 2.69 ERA. Both pitchers are having good years, so something will have to give. These two pitchers met last week, where Covey triumphed, giving up 2 earned runs on 10 hits. Bauer struck out 12, but gave up 3 earned runs on only 4 hits. Cleveland is heavily favored in this matchup: at -280.

White Sox
Seeing Dylan Covey’s name made Sox fans cringe last year. It is the opposite in his stint this year, as he has been a bright spot for them this year. The sinker baller has been getting the ground balls that he didn’t get last year, as he is locating his pitches a lot better.
Trayce Thompson looks to be under the gun as a return of Avisail Garcia appears eminent. He will need to do something to prove his worth, as he is hitting .118 out of the right field slot.
Jose Abreu is leading the team with a .284 average. Look for the White Sox to try to get men on base for him.
Cleveland Indians
Although Covey came out on top the last time these two teams met, any White Sox fan would admit that Bauer pitched a better game. Any time a pitcher fans 12 hitters, he is usually going to win. Look for Bauer to pick up where he left off, going right after the White Sox, who strike out a lot.
Offensively, the Indians are having an average year. Michael Brantley it’s leading the way, as he is batting .320. He has also driven in 40 runs, and added 11 home runs. Francisco Lindor is also having a good year, as he is batting .289. He has also driven in 37 runs. 16 home runs round out his stats. Look for these two, who have been leading this team toward a potential divisional title, to be big factors in this game.
White Sox Surprise Indians
I’m going to take the unpopular opinion on this one. Covey has been brilliant and a good performance is entirely possible if he can locate his sinker. Take the White Sox at +180.
