The defending World Series champion, Houston Astros, head to Colorado for a brief two-game series against the Rockies. Coors Field has always been a hitter-friendly park, and the Astros explosive offense should enjoy the two games there. The Houston Astros won the series opener 8-2 over the Rockies in extra innings.
The Astros continue to lead the American League West, but are facing stiff competition from the Mariners and Athletics. The Rockies are in third place in the National League West, trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers by 2.5 games. The Astros are -126 against the Rockies on Wednesday night.

Gray Looks To Turn Season Around
Jon Gray was supposed to be the ace of the Rockies staff this season but has struggled so far in 2018. Gray is 8-7 for the Rockies this year, but has a very high 5.44 earned run average. The right-hander has struggled to pitch at Coors Field this season but has won his last two home starts. The Rockies will need Gray to be sharp in this game against a devastating Astros lineup.
All-Star third baseman, Nolan Arenado is having another terrific season for the Rockies. Arenado might be the favorite to win the MVP Award in the National League this season and has kept the Rockies in the playoff race. Arenado leads the Rockies in almost every offensive category, including 25 home runs and 72 runs batted in.
Charlie Morton Continues To Amaze
The Houston Astros feature the best starting rotation in baseball, and Charlie Morton might be the best of the bunch this season. Morton was selected to the American League All-Star team this season, and brings his 11-2 record to Coors Field. Morton has a sparkling 2.96 earned run average to go along with a whopping 146 strikeouts this season. It will be interesting to see how Morton’s curveball looks at Coors Field.
The Astros are the second highest scoring team in baseball and have a very deep and talented lineup. Reigning AL MVP, Jose Altuve, is having another great year at the plate with a .325 batting average. All-Star Alex Bregman leads the Astros with 20 homers and 66 runs batted in for Houston. The Houston offense should feast at the very spacious Coors Field.
Astros Win At Coors
This should be a very high scoring series with two of the best offenses in baseball doing battle. The Astros have the clear edge in the pitching matchup, but Gray has been much better in his last two starts for the Rockies. Colorado needs every win they can get as they try to stay in the National League West race.
The Astros continue to win, and they need to in order to stay atop the AL West standings. The Houston starting rotation has carried them all year, but their offense can still score runs in bunches. Look for Charlie Morton to continue his terrific 2018 season and shut down the Rockies on Wednesday. Bet the Houston Astros -126 in game two of the series.
