The New York Yankees visit Fenway Park on Thursday. There, they will take on their longrime division rival, the Boston Red Sox. First pitch will be at 6:10 pm central time. This seems to be a game that will be very important for each team, as they fight for position in their division. The Yankees’ record stands at 68-38, impressive in itself as they are 30 games over .500. However, they sit 5 and a half games behind the first place team in the American League East division. That team, of course, is the Boston Red Sox. Boston has an astounding 75-34 record, and sit atop the division. Their record is also so good that it is the best in baseball, with defending champion Houston not far behind. Boston is favored in this matchup slightly: at -115.

Pitching Matchup
C.C. Sabathia will be on the mound for New York. Sabathia is 6-4 on the year. He has historically been pretty good against the Boston club, with an 18-15 career record playing against them. In his last outing against them, he went seven whole innings against them, giving up only one run. This season has been pretty much an average one for the lefty, with his record standing currently at 6-4. He will surely look to get 3 games above .500 in this critical matchup, as he won’t want his team to fall 6 and a half games behind. His ERA is currently 3.53, which is respectable, but he will surely like to improve on that as well.
For Boston, Brian Johnson will be on the mound. Johnson isn’t often used as a starter, as he has began 8 games for Boston. However, Chris Sale is on the disabled list currently, so Johnson is getting the nod. Johnson is 1-1 in his starts so far this season. His ERA stands at a very good 1.80. His stuff is certainly there, but we will see how he does against this tough Yankee lineup.
New York Yankees
With Ronald Torreyes being sent down, Miguel Andujar is now leading the Yankees in batting average, and seemingly overall offensively. He is hitting a respectable .284 currently, and has driven in 47 runs. He also adds 13 home runs to the mix. Look for him to continue to be a factor in this game.
Boston Red Sox
Tough hitters abound in this Boston lineup. Mookie Betts, who has been amongst MVP talks, leads the charge. He is hitting .338, which is extremely impressive at this point in the season. He has also driven in 56 runs and hit 25 home runs. With these numbers, he should play a big part in deciding this game.
Red Sox Top Yankees
While Sabathia is still a great pitcher, the Red Sox are just plain better. If Johnson can have a good game, he should get enough run support to walk away with the W. Bet on the Boston Red Sox at -116.
