It’s hard to believe that four years ago, these two teams, led by the same QB’s/head coach, were battling in the NFC Championship. Now, both teams, still boasting a lot of talent, are struggling to close games. Seattle is in it until the end every week, but just can’t make enough big plays.
Green Bay has one of the best QB’s of all-time, but the defense doesn’t do enough for them. Injuries have certainly taken their toll, but that’s no excuse. The loser of this one is going to have a hard time getting into the playoffs.

Packers
This season may be one of the most remarkable for Rodgers, record aside. Battling through injuries since the season opener, he’s got 2,741 yards and 17 touchdowns, and, wait for it… has only thrown a single interception. Nothing has been able to keep him off the field, and he’s found new weapons to make an impact this year. The speed of Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been a big part of the offense, when Davante Adams hasn’t been getting the ball enough. Aaron Jones has been sensational when healthy, and looks like an elite RB at times.
The Packers defense, for all of its shortcomings, sure makes a lot of big plays. They have recorded 31 sacks on the season, and picked off six passes. As long as they have a healthy Blake Martinez, who leads the team in tackles by a crazy margin (he has 78, next is Kenny Clark with 40), they should have a chance.
Seahawks
We didn’t see them in the playoffs last year, and with a very different roster now, we may see Seattle on the outside looking in again. It’s tough to see for a team who we got used to seeing be near the top of the NFC every year for a good 3-4. Russell Wilson has led a lot of big drives, with 21 touchdown passes on the year, to five INT’s, and 1,967 yards. They are averaging 150 rushing yards per game between Mike Davis, Rashaad Penny, Russell Wilson, and Chris Carson, something they need to continue to use. They haven’t had any elite receivers, but they just have to use what they have.
With the legion of boom no longer present, we have seen the pass-rush a bit more deteriorated in Seattle, but the secondary has recorded 10 interceptions this year, as well as recovering six forced fumbles. It’s all about the big plays, and that’s where they do thrive. We’ll see if they can put it all together against Green Bay, in primetime at home.
Seahawks Win a Close Game
Sorry Aaron, but we’re going with Russell Wilson on this one. The game is going to be a close one, and an exciting QB battle, but big plays will be all the difference, and they’ll be going Seattle’s way.
