We all expected the Chiefs to fall to the #6 Colts yesterday, but they didn’t even come close. Not as many people have the same expectations for the Eagles, but when it’s a playoff game with Nick Foles as the starter, we just have to expect the unexpected.
New Orleans looks to get back to the NFC Championship for the first since 2009, where a showdown with the Rams awaits the winner.

Eagles:
After knocking off the Bears in exciting fashion last week, the Eagles are hoping to try and run the table in the NFC playoffs a second straight year. Foles drove the team down the field and hit Golden Tate III for the go-ahead touchdown with just 56 seconds left. Cody Parkey’s 40-yarder on the other side got tipped by Trayvon Hester, and that was it. The run-game was horrific for the Eagles, only gaining 43 yards on 22 attempts. Alshon Jeffery came through with six catches for 82 yards, as he has continued to be the favorite target for Foles.
Philly got to Trubisky just twice, one of them coming from playoff vet Michael Bennett. They did record six total tackles for loss, something that is going to be vital today. If you can force the Saints into second/third and long situations, you could put a lot of added pressure. Drew Brees had his moments this year, but this is a team that may prefer to RUN the ball. Put pressure on.
Saints:
They should have been in last year’s Championship Game, but they forgot how to tackle, which led to Stefon Diggs taking it to the house. The three teams who actually beat NO this year are all out of the race now. They beat Philly 48 to seven when they met on November 18, but things were different than they are now. With Foles at QB, it is certainly not the same look. Brees, meanwhile, threw 32 TD passes to just five picks this year, throwing for 3,992 yards, and completing 74.4% of his passes, a crazy impressive mark. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram combined for 1,500 rushing yards and 20 scores, and 900 receiving yards, and five TD’s.
The O-Line kept Brees upright all season, as he took only 17 sacks in the 15 games he started. We look at the Saints D, which started horribly and got better fast. Cam Jordan was a monster with 12 sacks, with Sheldon Rankins adding eight. Marcus Williams and Marshon Lattimore both did a good job in the secondary, along with Eli Apple and PJ Williams. They’ve got some serious playmakers.
Saints knock off Eagles, set date w/ Rams
Sorry, Nick, not this year. The game will be close, but Brees is going to make all the difference in today’s game. Three TD passes and 275 yards will power the guys in gold to the victory. Onwards to the NFC Championship game! They ended the previous decade with a Super Bowl, could they do it again 10 years later?
