On Tuesday night, the San Francisco Giants will face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles in an NL West battle. The Giants are 2-3, and the Dodgers are 3-2 on this young season.

Both Teams Coming Off Incredible Games
The Giants defeated the Dodgers in the opening game of this series 4-2 behind a solid pitching performance. Drew Pomeranz started the game, going 5 strong innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk to go with 6 strikeouts. The Giants bullpen came in and dominated, going 4 scoreless innings and giving up just 1 hit and 1 walk. Pablo Sandoval tied the game in the 7th inning with a pinch-hit single. Brandon Belt came up 2 batters later and gave the Giants a 4-2 lead on a 2-run double for his 2nd hit of the game. Belt also homered in the 6th inning.
Dodgers starter Julio Urias had an incredible game. Urias went 5 innings, giving up no runs on just 3 hits and no walks to go with 7 strikeouts before giving way to the bullpen. Joe Kelly recorded the loss in this one. Kelly went 1.2 innings and was charged with all 4 Giant runs. He allowed 4 hits and struck out 2 before being yanked from the game, and his ERA is at 18. The Dodgers only offense of the game came in the 6th inning when Chris Taylor smashed a solo home run to right field, and Alex Verdugo drilled a pinch-hit home run to center field to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.
Bumgarner Gets the Start
Madison Bumgarner will get the start for the Giants in this one. In his 1st start, Bumgarner went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 9. However, the offense did not back him up, and he was handed the loss. Last season, Bumgarner went 6-7 with a 3.26 ERA in 21 starts. He struck out 109 versus 43 walks. A couple of players have had success against Hyun-Jin Ryu in their careers. Brandon Crawford has gone 7 for 15, Buster Posey has gone 7 for 20, Yangervis Solarte has gone 4 for 8, and Joe Panik has gone 4 for 12. Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria have struggled against the Dodgers’ left-hander. Belt has gone 4 for 14 while Longoria has gone just 1 for 8.
Hyun-Jin Ryu will draw the start for Los Angeles. In his 1st start of the season, he went 6 innings and gave up just 1 run on 4 hits and no walks while striking out 8. Last year, Ryu went 7-3 in 15 starts with a solid 1.97 ERA and struck out 89 batters versus just 15 walks. The Dodgers have not had incredible success against Bumgarner. Corey Seager has gone 5 for 17, and Enrique Hernandez has drilled him, going 19 for 39 in his career against the lefty, but others have struggled. Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Chris Taylor, Justin Turner, and AJ Pollock have combined for just 30 hits in 129 at-bats, which is just a .233 average.
Take the Giants
The Dodgers come in as -190 favorites. Obviously, Madison Bumgarner has had a successful career, but Hyun-Jin Ryu has had good success in his shorter career in the big leagues. The Dodgers have a potent lineup, but Bumgarner has been able to keep them in check over the years. Ryu has not been as successful against the Giants hitters, but he has had a smaller sample size. I think that the line in this one for the Giants is way too enticing, especially with the big man Bumgarner on the mound. Take the Giants +159.
