Cole on the Bump for Houston
Gerrit Cole was the starter on Sunday for Houston. He went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. The bullpen was solid and allowed just 2 runs over 6 innings on 6 hits and no walks and struck out 11 guys. Michael Brantley had the go ahead RBI single in the 12th which was his only hit of the game. Yuli Gurriel went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBIs. Myles Straw went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored out of the 9 hole. Derek Fisher and Alex Bregman each went 2 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.
Seattle Seeking Huge Bounce Back
The Mariners are coming off a 13-3 blowout loss to the Angels on Sunday. Marco Gonzales got rocked in his 4 2/3 innings of work. He allowed 10 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks and struck out just 2. The bullpen allowed just 1 run over the final 4 1/3 innings on 6 hits and 2 walks with 1 strikeout. The offense was lackluster as well as they combined for just 5 hits. Kyle Seager was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double. Tim Beckham and Omar Narvaez each went hitless but recorded an RBI. Mallex Smith, Edwin Encarnacion, and Domingo Santana each recorded a single.
Corbin Martin will get the start for the Astros and will he just the 5th start of his career. He is 1-1 with a 5.51 ERA this season and a 1.71 WHIP with 16 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings. The Astros are a combined 15 for 35 against LeBlanc in his career. Josh Reddick is 4 for 7 with a home run and Alex Bregman is 1 for 4. George Springer, Jose Altuve, and Carlos Correa have all had some success but are all hurt right now.
Wade LeBlanc will be making his 7th start of the season for the Mariners in this one. He is 2-2 with a 6.99 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP with 23 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings. Last year he went 9-5 with a 3.72 ERA in 32 appearances for the Mariners. The Mariners have not seen Martin in his career.
Astros Keep Winning; Down Seattle on Monday
The Astros are -145. These 2 teams are going in completely opposite directions. Houston has won 3 in a row and are 7-3 in their last 10. Seattle has lost 2 in a row and are just 2-8 in their last 10. Corbin Martin has been solid for the Astros since being brought up and LeBlanc has been sup bar. The Astros will hammer LeBlanc regardless of all their injuries. Take the Astros -145.
