The Indianapolis Colts will be in Kansas City on Sunday night for a Week 5 matchup against the Chiefs. Both of these teams were in the AFC playoffs a season ago, and this could be a playoff preview this season. This has the potential to be one of the highest-scoring games of the season as both teams have been putting up big numbers on offense this season.
Kansas City comes into this game with a perfect 4-0 record, and they are always tough to beat at home. The Chiefs were the top seed in the AFC a season ago and have a great shot of having it again this season. Indianapolis has been extremely inconsistent this season, but they have shown the potential to be a playoff team. The Kansas City Chiefs are 11-point favorites in this game.
Mahomes Carrying Chiefs Offense
Patrick Mahomes was the MVP of the NFL a season ago, and he might be playing even better this season. Mahomes has already thrown for over 1,500 passing yards this season, throwing 10 touchdown passes. The Chiefs have been without wide receiver Tyreek Hill since Week 1, but it hasn’t slowed down their offense. Running back LeSean McCoy has been great in his return to Kansas City, leading the team with 214 rushing yards.
The Chiefs’ defense has not been great this season, but they have been much improved. Kansas City is allowing just 23.0 points per game, but their offense usually bails them out in a big way. The Chiefs have recorded 11 sacks already, and they will get some pressure on Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett in this one.
Colts Need Their Defense to Return
The Indianapolis Colts had one of the best defenses in the NFL a season ago, but they have disappeared up until this point. The Colts have given up 25.5 points per game so far in 2019, and that number could go up like crazy after this game. Indianapolis does have nine sacks already this season, and they will need to get some pressure on Mahomes if they want to stay in this game.
Brissett has placed well at the quarterback position for the Colts this season, but he is definitely no Andrew Luck. Brissett has thrown for over 240 yards per game, but that number doesn’t rank up with the top QBs in the league. Running back Marlon Mack has powered the Colts running game this season, and they have run for over 120 yards per game. Indianapolis will need to run the ball to keep the Chiefs offense on the sidelines on Sunday night.
Chiefs Roll Over Colts on Sunday Night
Indianapolis looks like a potential playoff team in the AFC this season, but the Kansas City Chiefs are on a whole different level. The Chiefs just simply can’t be stopped on offense, especially when playing in their home stadium. Indianapolis will do all it can on defense, but their offense will not score enough points to keep them in this one. Bet the Kansas City Chiefs -11.0 over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football.
