The San Francisco 49ers host the Cleveland Browns in a matchup featuring a couple of upstart teams looking to turn it around after long droughts. Cleveland came into the 2019 campaign with very high expectations and dropped two of its first games of the season. They took care of the Jets and then hung 40 points on their division rival Ravens last weekend, a result that not many really saw coming. They are improving as the year goes on and have a chance to move over .500 with a win against the undefeated 49ers.
The undefeated 49ers? You read that right. A healthy Jimmy Garoppolo can really make all the difference. They went 5-0 with him as the starter when they acquired him two seasons ago before struggling out of the gate following his injury a year ago. This is 2017 all over again, it seems, but this time it is from the start of the season. A 3-0 start playing inside a division as competitive as the NFC West is crucial, and if it can keep it rolling on Monday night, San Francisco will be 4-0.
The spread for this game favors the 49ers by five points, while the over/under is set at 47.
Browns Looking To Win Two In A Row
He has not exactly been great this year, but we finally saw Baker Mayfield come out and get it going last week. His interception count has been higher than coach Freddie Kitchens would like, while he has taken a lot of heat from D-Lines, getting sacked a whole lot. They have one of the game’s most promising young running backs in Nick Chubb, who went nuts against the Ravens last week, and a 1-2 receiving punch in Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. that is as tantalizing as any other in the league.
Look for the Browns’ defense to step up, folks. Myles Garrett is one of the fiercest pass-rushers in the game and is going to be bringing the heat. The secondary for Cleveland may have its hands full with the receiver depth of the 49ers, but beware.
49ers Try To Stay Perfect
Jimmy G has been playing some great football through the first few weeks of the season and is trying to keep it rolling. The 49ers have some talented young receivers, while rookie Deebo Samuel has stood out among all of them. George Kittle has continued to dominate the game from the tight end spot, while the likes of Kendrick Bourne and Marquise Goodwin have been using their speed to get free. Despite injuries to Jerick McKinnon for a second consecutive year, the running game has actually been a strength behind the impressive Matt Breida.
Look for the San Francisco defense to bring the heat on Mayfield, and for Richard Sherman to slow down Beckham.
49ers Knock Off Cleveland In Primetime
Make sure that any bets you make are for the Niners, folks. They will get the win and stay perfect on the year. A loss will be here for Cleveland.
