It has not exactly been a memorable start to the season for the New York Giants, who are currently hampered with extensive injuries, but they have certainly been more competitive with rookie Daniel Jones under center, going 2-1 over their last three games. There is no doubt this will be a tough game no matter how much they come to play, with New England being the last remaining unbeaten team in the AFC. The Giants have knocked the Patriots out in two Super Bowls, and we’ll see if Jones can power his team past New England.
New England has truly been an unstoppable machine through the first five weeks of the season. They have the third-ranked scoring offense and the top scoring defense, having surrendered just 34 total points through five games. That is an average of just 6.8 per contest, and they are winning each battle by four touchdowns. Easy schedule or not, they are demolishing each and every opponent, and they are a win away from 6-0, a far cry from how they opened the last few years.
The spread for the primetime matchup favors the Patriots by 17 points (NE –17), with the over/under set at 40.5.
Giants Looking To Move Back To .500
Last place in the NFC East is off-limits this year with the Redskins basically locking it up at 0-5, a coaching change already made, and three QBs alternating playing time. The Giants’ win against the Bucs a few weeks ago did not seem like much of a fluke, with the offense really coming to life, which will need to be the case again this week for them to have a shot. They already have a long injury list and will be without Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram on top of who is already out, all-everything running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley’s replacement, Wayne Gallman, has not yet cleared concussion protocol, and so he is out as well.
The Giants defense has not exactly impressed this year, but they need to have quick hands and bring the pressure. If they can get any interceptions off of Tom Brady and mess with his confidence, that would be huge.
Pats Try To Stay Perfect
Brady has been crushing it this year, and each week it seems that a new weapon emerges for him to toss the pigskin to. Antonio Brown’s one-week experiment was a success in the box score, but it didn’t last beyond that. Josh Gordon and Julian Edelman have been lights out, while Philip Dorsett was also playing well before suffering an injury last weekend. Ryan Izzo is becoming a serious weapon now, too, and N’Keal Harry is continuing to rehab with the hopes of making his debut this year. Coach Bill Belichick is truly a genius.
The Patriots’ defense has been just as good as the offense, with a lack of weakness. They will be pressuring Jones from the get-go.
Pats Stay Perfect, But Giants Keep It Close
Make sure that you bet NYG +17. But, if you are ignoring spreads, and going straight up, take the Pats’ moneyline. Brady will lead his team to another win.
