After a few years of being irrelevant, Green Bay is back and better than ever. The Packers had some questionable calls in their win over Detroit two weeks ago, then bounced back and tore the Raiders defense to shreds last Sunday. They scored six touchdowns and amassed nearly 500 yards in all. The running game did not do much, but Aaron Rodgers proved that he can continually sling it as well as any QB week-to-week. It is safe to say that the Matt LaFleur hire has been the right move. They are contenders.
Kansas City, on the other hand, has had its moments and currently sits at 5-2 in a division featuring three teams struggling to win below them. With Patrick Mahomes out this week after missing much of their last game, the Matt Moore show will continue. He has backed up Ryan Tannehill and Cam Newton, having to come in and fill in for both of them in the past. Now his latest task will be trying to stifle a hot Packers team on Sunday Night.
The Chiefs without Mahomes are five-point favorites, with the over/under set at 47.5.
Packers Look For Another Win
Green Bay is a team that cannot be taken lightly, one that is a serious threat in this year’s NFL. The Packers do not lose many games, and with an offense as good as theirs, it takes a lot to defeat them. They will be hoping to dominate a struggling Kansas City secondary, which has allowed far too many yards and big plays throughout the year. Kansas City held Denver to just 205 yards of offense, so Green Bay will actually be facing a defense coming off a good week. Kansas City has allowed 400 yards four times, however. The Packers’ lowest yardage total over the last four weeks meanwhile is 335, as they have been great.
Green Bay allowed the Raiders to pick up 484 yards of offense but also forced a few turnovers when it had to. They have surrendered over 120 rushing yards in five of seven games and will need to be able to slow down the run game for Kansas City, which has struggled this year.
No Lead Dog
For the first time since he took over as the starter last year, Mahomes will be out this week. The job of replacing him falls on the shoulders of Moore, who has been in this boat before. He’s a solid option for them, but it is clear that he isn’t Mahomes and may not be able to extend drives the same way. But he is good enough, and maybe this surprise element may help the Chiefs to improve the run game, as they will be giving Green Bay all different looks.
They have rushed for 100 yards three times this year and have increased their total in three straight weeks. They will look to make it four, and limiting Rodgers would be ideal.
Packers Do Their Job
In what will be a close game, Green Bay will emerge with a road win and a 7-1 record despite being without Davante Adams.
