The Seattle Seahawks travel to Lambeau Field on Sunday to take on the Green Bay Packers in a divisional-round game in the NFC. The winner of this contest will take on the San Francisco 49ers next week for a trip to the Super Bowl.
These teams have met several times in the postseason before, but a game in freezing cold, snow-ridden Green Bay is no joke. The Seahawks, without their top three running backs and using new guys on the roster, were able to get past the Eagles, but this is a different task altogether.
For the Packers, who have not made the Super Bowl since 2011, a trip this year would be great for a lot of reasons. Aaron Rodgers has been one of the league’s top quarterbacks for years now, yet like Drew Brees, only has one Super Bowl appearance.
This is the year now as division champs and one of the higher seeds to go and get a win. They were blown out by the 49ers the last time they met in November, so the Packers are playing for a shot to then take them down in their home building.
The spread has Green Bay favored by 4.5 points, with the over/under at 45.5 points.
Seattle Looks For Another Road Win
On the road in Philadelphia, going against Josh McCown with a torn hamstring for three quarters is not the same as what the Seahawks are set to face in Wisconsin Sunday. With Marshawn Lynch in the fold and a few weeks of reps now under his belt, he could be in for a big day alongside impressive rookie Travis Homer.
Russell Wilson has looked like an MVP candidate all year, and with Lamar Jackson now eliminated, he could be the best quarterback standing on that ladder if he can just win Sunday. He has never had a problem winning high-stakes games and is 8-1 away from home this year.
The pass rush and secondary will have all the pressure on them for Seattle. They have to constantly pressure Rodgers and really be glued to Davante Adams and Jared Cook, who can get hot quickly.
Making Their Way Back
The Packers last made the NFC title game in 2016, where they got steamrolled by the Falcons, 44-21. Down 24-0 at halftime, they never had a chance in that one. They can get back to that point by simply getting a win Sunday.
It would be good for the confidence and validate their year. The Ravens’ and Saints’ years ended prematurely with a lot of what-ifs, and the Packers hope to at least make it past those squads. Aaron Jones has had a magnificent season running the football, as well as playing like an elite receiving back. He’s a big key in this game.
This will be an exciting contest between the teams, and Rodgers has to be ready for the fight.
Packers Advance To The Bay
Sorry Seahawks, maybe next year. Green Bay wins and is on to the NFC Championship.
