The only game on the NBA schedule for Tuesday night sees the LA Clippers on the road to take on the Dallas Mavericks in a battle of potential playoff opponents in the Western Conference.
It has been a fantastic season for the Clippers despite having to deal with several key injuries to a number of their starters and reserves. Ivica Zubac is the only player that is yet to miss a game this season, as a number of players have not been able to sustain their health.
Paul George is going to miss yet another game with his hamstring injury, as he is seriously missed. Maurice Harkless has joined him on the injury report, and we’ll see if he gets to play Tuesday night.
Dallas has been handling playing without Kristaps Porzingis pretty well, though it will certainly be happy to see him back in the lineup for this one after missing 10 games if he’s able to go as planned. Luka Doncic is continuing to do his thing, playing a high quality of basketball throughout the year and wowing everybody throughout the league.
Tim Hardaway Jr. has started to score the ball at an effective rate, and Seth Curry is as well, averaging 11 points per game in his return season to the Mavericks after going to Portland. This is going to be a tough matchup for Dallas.
The Mavericks are favored by one point, with the over/under set to 229 points.
Looking For Another Win
With three of their top four options still healthy and raring to go, the Clippers will be tough to beat each and every night. This team is also not likely a finished product yet, with moves expected to be made at the trade deadline. The one thing the 30-13 Clippers still do not have is a player who can effectively play the power forward spot for an extended stretch, giving them solid minutes for a whole game.
JaMychal Green, Harkless, and Patrick Patterson have all had their chances, with George and Kawhi Leonard playing shooting guard and small forward when they’re in. The Clippers do have a number of veterans and young players who they could move for an upgrade.
Montrezl Harrell may have a tough matchup in the post Tuesday night trying to score against Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell, both of whom can protect the rim. He’ll likely be patient and wait until later in the game to be aggressive.
Hoping For A Return
This will not be an easy matchup for Dallas, but we’ll see how it can get it going. Leonard is on a tear that no Clippers player has been on since World B. Free in 1980, scoring 30 points a night to lift this team while barely breaking a sweat.
Doncic is continuing to lead the Mavericks, averaging 29 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists on the year. He is playing a ridiculous style of ball, with his step-back triples something to behold. He seems to hit the big shot whenever the team really needs it. He’s still only 20 years old and could be atop the MVP ladder soon.
If the Mavericks can use Kleber and Powell effectively to space the floor and protect the rim, the team should have a good chance.
Mavs Win A Nailbiter
Doncic will have a big night to lift the Mavericks to a tight win. Bet on Dallas.
