PokerStars is one of the most popular online poker platforms in the world, with thousands of players playing poker on a daily basis. What PokerStars is popular for is lucrative online tournaments that award the best players with some really hefty prizes. However, one of the tournaments stands out from the crowd, and its name is Sunday Millions.
In fact, many poker players agree that Sunday Millions is perhaps the first thing that comes to their mind when talking about PokerStars. It has grown into quite a brand, and it attracts a lot of players every week.
To celebrate the 14th anniversary of this tournament, PokerStars decided to make one of them very interesting, by making a massive guaranteed prize. Those who decide to take part in it will have an opportunity to take a share from a $12.5 million prize pool.
The tournament will start on March 22 and last for two days. By offering so much money, PokerStars set a new record for the biggest guaranteed prize in any of its tournaments.
PokerStars made a very significant move last year, which attracted a lot of players to join Sunday Millions. Namely, they lowered the total amount of money needed for the buy-in from $215 to $109.
Therefore, many players who wouldn’t have participated in it decided to buy a place at the Sunday Millions and try it.
However, this time the tournament goes back to a $215 buy-in, which is completely understandable, given the guaranteed prize amount.
Tournament Format – What to Expect
The tournament will officially start at 5 pm GMT on March 22. Every player who bought a place in it will begin with a total of 20,000 chips. Moreover, the blinds will increase every 20 minutes.
During the first day, players will have an opportunity to re-buy their place back up to five times. After 24 hours, late registrations are closed.
Day 2 officially ends after level 50. This time, levels are even shorter — they last for only 15 minutes.
Those who make it through Day 2 will return to the tournament for the final day, which also features 15-minute levels. The last day ends when only one player collects chips from all the other players.
If the buy-in seems too much for you at the moment, you can always take part in some of the direct satellite tournaments, which start at only $0.90 and will help you qualify for Sunday Millions if you win them.
These satellite tournaments are not the only thing you can use to enter Sunday Millions. In fact, PokerStars is yet to announce additional ways such as various promotions that can help players be part of the prestigious event in March.
The tournament is still two months away from now, so make sure to read the news by PokerStars to find out more about it in the future and seize an opportunity to qualify.
