The Phoenix Suns are on the road on Sunday, taking on the league-leading Milwaukee Bucks. Both teams are coming off losses and will be looking to bounce back in this one.
It has been an up-and-down season for the Suns, but considering all the losing and coaching changes that have taken place over the last several years, this is great to see.
Alas, Devin Booker is having a career year once again and was left off the All-Star roster. He is still yet to make it into the game and is the first player to ever average 27 points, six assists, and have a true shooting percentage greater than 50 and not make it. Maybe he’ll take it out on the Bucks Sunday.
It was a very cool gesture by the Bucks against the Nuggets in their last game to put Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother, Thanasis, in the starting lineup alongside him. It didn’t exactly do too well, but nonetheless, it was a grand gesture, especially as he deals with the passing of Kobe Bryant in his own way, being with family is the most important thing.
For that to be possible on the court, on a team that also features the Lopez twins, is truly incredible.
The spread for this game favors the Bucks by 12 points, while the over/under is set at 233.
Suns Look To Be Super
It was a surprise to see Milwaukee fall in its last game to the short-handed Denver Nuggets. And now, Phoenix is hoping to give a second defeat in a row to the best team in the NBA.
The Suns rank 11th in points scored and do not lack weapons in the starting lineup. Booker is averaging 27 points, four rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting 51 percent from the floor.
DeAndre Ayton is averaging 17 points and 12 rebounds in year two and has really emerged since coming back from his suspension. Kelly Oubre is posting nearly 19 points and seven boards per game, with Ricky Rubio averaging nine assists per contest.
The Suns have shooters coming in and giving them minutes off the bench, though they continue to miss the likes of Cam Johnson, Aron Baynes and Frank Kaminsky. Mikal Bridges has struggled this year, but every game is a new opportunity.
Trying To Bounce Back
At 41-7, the Bucks have dreams of still breaking the Warriors’ record for most wins in a season. It has been stated by owner Marc Lasry, with Giannis talking about goal No. 2 being 70 wins.
The Bucks need to finish the year 33-1 if they want to break that 73-9 mark from four years ago, and can only afford five losses (28-5 finish) to accomplish 70 wins.
Regardless of how many they do end up winning, Mike Budenholzer deserves several Coach of the Year votes, and they will be a tough out in the playoffs. The main thing for them Sunday is to stay focused, and make their open looks.
Giannis is likely due for another big performance in this one, so look out for him to star for the Bucks.
Milwaukee Wins A Close One
Phoenix will keep it close but falter under pressure. Bet on the Bucks.
