Miami currently sits in the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference and will be hoping to surpass Boston by the end of the year to avoid Milwaukee in the second round if they should advance. They will remain without both Meyers Leonard and Tyler Herro this evening, guys they are definitely missing out there.
Leonard held it down for 7-10 minutes to start each half at the center spot, while Tyler Herro was able to prove himself as a sharpshooter. They have a good bench either way, but they could use him.
New Orleans, on the other hand, is still trying to push for the eighth seed in the West but has dropped three games in a row. Luka was able to defeat them and give the Mavs the late-night win on Wednesday. Things are really going to have to pick up soon if they want to actually make it to the playoffs.
This roster is as talented as any in their position at the moment, so they should really have the best odds. If their defense could get even a few stops, it would help.
New Orleans is a 1.5-point favorite in tonight’s game, the over/under set at 234.5.
Miami looking to stay in the top half of the East
Philly and Indiana will catch up eventually if the Heat don’t get hot, so every game matters right now. Their win over the Bucks was a huge one and could put them on the path to success. Duncan Robinson hit nine threes against Orlando, continuing to prove his value to the team.
Goran Dragic is playing his best basketball in years, averaging 17 points and five assists per game off the bench. Jae Crowder and Andre Iguodala are giving them good minutes off the bench, and Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo continue to lead effectively. The Heat are getting hot.
To get the win tonight, they’ll need to try and limit Ingram and Jrue Holiday. They need to make Zion be the one to try and be the difference-maker. It is his third game in four days, so fatigue should be a factor.
Pelicans trying to snap out of their funk
Coming in after losing three games in a row, they will hope to find some success on their home floor. The team has gotten used to playing on National TV in front of the large audiences at this point, and the nerves have been quelled.
They have an extremely talented starting five with some solid reserves out there too. Most notably has been Josh Hart (Happy 25th birthday to him), giving them great minutes on the defensive side of the ball. His ability to shoot the three has made him a fantastic addition.
They will have their hands full with the weapons of Miami, but they’ll have a chance to get the win.
Miami gets it done once again
The matchup will not work out well for New Orleans. This will be their fourth loss in a row.
