The NHL Playoffs continue on Friday, and there is a chance for one Western Conference team to pull off a huge upset. The Vancouver Canucks currently have a 3-2 series lead over the defending champion St. Louis Blues as the two teams are set to square off in Game 6.
Vancouver won the first two games of this series before the St. Louis Blues responded by winning the next two. A come from behind victory in Game 5 has given the Vancouver Canucks a chance to advance with a win on Friday.
The St. Louis Blues are -140 in this Game 6 matchup against the Vancouver Canucks.
Blues Must Find Goaltending
If the St. Louis Blues are going to keep their season alive with a win, it will have to start in the blue paint. St. Louis has a pair of talented goaltenders, but both players have struggled in the postseason.
Jake Allen has picked up both wins for the Blues in this series, but he struggled in the Game 5 loss. Jordan Binnington led the Blues to the Stanley Cup a season ago, but he is 0-4 so far in these playoffs and was benched earlier this series.
Center Ryan O’Reilly has been the offensive star of the playoffs so far for the Blues, and he leads the way with ten total points. St. Louis has been scoring plenty of goals of late, but their defense and goaltending must improve.
Vancouver Has Plenty of Weapons
The Vancouver Canucks have averaged 3.25 goals per game this season, and they have plenty of offensive weapons. These stars have shown up so far in this series, which could be the reason they can advance to the second round.
Elias Pettersson and Bo Horvat are two of the brightest young stars in the league, and they have been impressive so far in this playoff run. Pettersson leads the team with 11 points in the playoffs, and Horvat leads the way with six goals.
Jacob Markstrom has started all nine playoff games in net for the Canucks, and he has been solid for the Canucks. Markstrom has stopped almost 93 percent of shots faced in the postseason, and another solid performance in this game could win the series.
Blues Keep Season Alive
The St. Louis Blues are still the reigning champs until someone is able to knock them off, and it’s never easy to eliminate a champion. St. Louis will be playing a desperate brand of hockey in this game, and that will spell trouble for the Canucks.
Vancouver has a terrific team, but most of their stars are still in their first true playoff series. The Canucks could go on to win this series, but they will have to win a Game 7.
St. Louis is on the ropes, but they will pull away with a victory in this game. Bet the St. Louis Blues -140 over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.
