888poker has been the center of attention for the poker world for the past month, as it hosted the biggest online poker festival that has ever taken place on this platform. It started on September 10 and ended on October 11. During that month, players had an opportunity to participate in 480 events, and more than $8 million in guaranteed prizes were distributed to the best ones.
The most important event of the festival was also the last one to take place — the $320 888Millions Superstorm Main Event, that offered a total of $1 million in guarantees. The final event ended in what could be described as a perfect scenario for the professional German poker player Dominik Nitsche, who managed to top the event and win a total of $121,146.
What made this event perfect for him was that October 11 was also his 30th birthday. He couldn’t have received a better present than the one from the poker company he represents as an ambassador. However, Nitsche won his prize fair and square.
The German player once again showed why he is considered one of the best MTT players in the world.
The Action for the Day
Day 2 started at 4:00 P.M. when there were still 567 players left, each of them hoping to make it to the top 300 paying sports. The event included some poker ambassadors who made it to Day 2. Apart from the winning player, Martin Jacobson and Ana Marquez also made it.
The money bubble burst soon after the first break when a player nicknamed “junijuniorz” hit the rail in the 301st place. Jacobson failed to make it to the money list, whereas Marquez left the game in 219th place, winning a total of $700.
One hour after the bubble, there were 150 players left in the game, and that narrowed down to less than 100 half an hour later. After two hours of play, the final table was ready.
Some of the players who failed to make it to the last part of the tournament were Tom Hall, Fabrizio Gonzalez, Ricardo Nascimento, and Ben Warrington.
The first player to hit the rail in the final table was “joolius” from Lithuania, who won $15,000. They were soon followed by Brazil’s Eduardo “franguet” Rocha for $20,000 and “dulek_jason” for $25,000.
Finishing in sixth place was a player who uses the online moniker “DreamLikeMe;” they won $30,000. After that, it was time for “kistkutya23” to leave the game in fifth place for $45,000.
The Top Four
After reaching the deal, the fourth-place finisher was “MrMarley83” from Canada, who won $80,551. Russia’s “Artemika168” left the game after that, leaving “GarbinaD” from Malta to face the German player.
However, Nitsche once again showed how great a player he is, ending the tournament in just a couple of hands, as he was already a huge chip leader at the start of the heads-up. “GarbinaD” had to settle for $112,609.
