The Arizona Cardinals are in Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week. The Cardinals were able to snap their two-game losing skid with a win last week, and another victory here would push them to 4-2. It’s a long season, but they’ve been a fun team to watch so far.
In just his second NFL season, we have already seen Kyler Murray show flashes of greatness. There was a reason he chose football over baseball, and why Arizona picked to make him their franchise quarterback. Contending with Russell Wilson and the invincible Seahawks in the NFC West isn’t easy, but they are proving to the league how good they can be.
Meanwhile, the Andy Dalton era in Dallas officially begins this week, after Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury in the Cowboys’ win over the New York Giants last weekend. Dalton started 13 games for the Bengals a year ago, taking the job back from struggling rookie Ryan Finley after Week 11.
Dalton showed in his opportunities last week that he can lead this team effectively. They got their second win of the season by taking the Giants out.
The spread for the game favors Arizona by one point. The over/under is set at 54.5.
Cardinals Looking for Road Magic
It’s never easy when you have to head to Dallas, even to play a short-handed team. With fans in the stands, the atmosphere will be boisterous throughout. Murray will be looking to continue his impressive start to his second year.
We’ve already seen the ups and downs from Arizona, but last week’s win gives them some positive momentum to take into this week. Most impressive for them has been DeAndre Hopkins, who, not surprisingly, has been an absolute monster. They had to trade a disgruntled David Johnson to get him, but it’s already been a winning trade for Arizona.
Murray is finding him practically every drive they play together. And long-time receiver Larry Fitzgerald is continuing to consistently catch most every ball tossed his way. What a duo, Fitz and Hopkins. This offense is lethal.
Cowboys Looking to Get to .500
Given their tough circumstances last week, this will be an emotional game for the Cowboys. It will be the first time in a long time that Prescott isn’t under center. In his place is the offseason signing, Dalton. He had some great years in Cincinnati, and he now hopes to lead Dallas.
Dalton will have to face his old team later this year, but the Cardinals are the focus for now. He found success with his limited throws last week and will be hoping for a repeat performance. He’s got several fantastic receivers to sling it to, something that was never true with his old squad.
The Cowboys are down several linemen and linebackers, but they’ll do the best they can. Mike McCarthy has a lot of pressure to win, uncommon for a first-year coach. So, win, they must.
Cardinals Come Away with the W
The Cowboys will not come away with this win. A quality performance from Murray will guide Arizona to its fourth win in six games.
