After a crazy ending to Game 4, Rays and Dodgers fans have less than 24 hours to wait for the next one. And to anybody that missed said crazy ending, it’s hard to explain just how sorry we all feel for you. The series is now tied at two games apiece.
Randy Arozarena came around to score the winning run after initially tripping halfway between third base and home plate. Two fielding errors by the Dodgers ensured that he could come across and score the winning run in a tremendous back-and-forth affair. The teams traded the lead several times.
Kenley Jansen continued to struggle on the big stage, while Brett Phillips picked up the winning hit. It was his first of the postseason, in what was also his first at-bat of the series.
For Phillips, it marked his first hit in over a month. This is why players always need to be ready, as their number can be called at literally any time.
The fifth game of the series will feature a pitching matchup of Clayton Kershaw versus Tyler Glasnow.
ODDS:
The moneyline on the Dodgers is set at -155 while it’s +150 for Tampa Bay.
Can LA Bounce Back?
The kings of scoring runs with two outs fell short in Game 4, shockingly. It seemed that scoring seven runs would be enough to carry the Dodgers to a victory.
But their bullpen could not seal the deal which their offense set them up to have a chance at. Whenever the second out would be recorded, the runs would come in.
A notable milestone from the loss came from Justin Turner. He hit his twelfth playoff HR as a Dodger, which put him one ahead of Duke Snider and makes him the franchise leader.
He had four hits in Game 4 and really could not have provided anything more. He and Corey Seager being unstoppable was not enough.
Kershaw will get the starting nod. He allowed just one run over six dominant innings in Game 1.
Rays Look to Push Dodgers to Brink
After facing extreme adversity in the ALCS, Tampa Bay was staring it in the face again. And they magically won Game 4 to even the series and avoid a 3-1 deficit. They delivered in the big moment, thanks to an unlikely hero in Phillips coming through at the plate.
And now, they need to enjoy it for about 10 minutes and get their focus on Game 5. A loss in this game would put them on the brink of elimination. But win, and they can go up 3-2 and put that pressure on a Dodger team that lost in the World Series in two of the previous three years.
Glasnow will get the ball for Game 5. He allowed six runs in just four-and-a-third innings of work in Game 1 while also walking a season-high six batters.
Rays Take a 3-2 Lead
Another exciting game will finish with the “home” Rays winning again. One win away from the franchise’s first championship!
