As the Bears take on the Rams in Los Angeles on Monday, we’ve got one two teams with winning records who haven’t looked great. The Bears have been anything but a typical 5-1 team, getting there with great defense and occasional quarterback play.
All that matters, though, is that 5-1 record. It’s been critical to play that well early on, given that the Packers have been lighting up the league this year. They seem good enough to be able to keep pace with them for the duration of the season.
The Rams, on the other hand, is in a nightmare scenario in their division. The Cardinals are 5-2, the Seahawks 5-1, and now the 49ers are 4-3 and on the rise.
There is no room for error, as a win is critically needed this week. The head-to-head games in the NFC West will determine who makes the playoffs, but they have to keep pace. No time to waste.
ODDS:
The Rams are 5.5-point favorites for the MNF showdown. The over/under is set at 44.5.
Bears Looking to Improve to 6-1
After a down season last year, the Bears have picked up right where they left off. They have been racking up the wins, making opposing offenses tremble with their ability. Khalil Mack is back to being a dominant force on a team that wins due to his effort.
Funnily enough, Mitchell Trubisky led the team to multiple wins (and no losses) before being benched. But as soon as the decision was made, it was clear the deal in the offseason for Nick Foles was made for this reason. They wanted the offense to run a little smoother while also putting his hefty contract to work on the actual field.
The run-game hasn’t been very good and took a big blow when they lost Tarik Cohen a few weeks ago. But, the creativity of Cordarelle Patterson can help to offset that loss. They’ll need him tonight.
Rams Looking to Get to 5-2
After falling short of expectations last season, the Rams quietly re-tooled and have gotten back on track to open 2020. Winners of four out of the first six games played, they have been able to rely on Jared Goff and their new young running backs to get the job done.
Defensively, Aaron Donald continues to lead the charge as Mack has done for the Bears. There is no scarier sight as a quarterback in football than watching Aaron Donald barreling at you with the football still in your hands. That will be the case for Foles tonight, as Donald looks to keep making it happen.
Sean McVay isn’t the “young genius” of the league anymore, but he is still an outstanding head coach. The Rams just keep putting up wins.
Rams Take Down the Bears
A 5-2 record will be what both teams possess when this one ends. A win for Goff and the Rams!
