It’s been a better last few weeks for the Vikings, as they come into Chicago to face the struggling Bears. Chicago got off to a 5-1 start, but they’ve now dropped three games in a row. Something’s not right with them, and they’ll have to figure it out this week if they hope to stay in the thick of what is a tight NFC playoff race.
Minnesota has been revitalized by the play of running back Dalvin Cook, running back tacklers in every city the team plays in. He’s been racking up massive totals which haven’t been seen to this point in the year in a long time. As long as he continues to perform as he has and Kirk Cousins isn’t relied on for all the offense, they should be able to win.
Nick Foles has struggled mightily, and it seems the Bears have nothing going well for them. They’ll have to play well in primetime because all eyes will be on them. With Matt Nagy giving up playcalling duties for the contest, we’ll see if it positively affects the offense.
ODDS:
The visiting Vikings and surprise favorites are projected to win by three points. The over/under is set at 43.
Minnesota Looks for Third Win in a Row
Very rarely does a club start the year 1-5 and make the playoffs. Winners of their past two games, Minnesota has gained some steam and hopes to keep things going in this divisional game. Despite being the road team, they are favored thanks to the dominance of Dalvin Cook since he returned to the lineup.
Kirk Cousins is owed a whole lot of money over the next few years, so winning games would quell a lot of potential negativity on that front. Given that he could make close to $50 million next season, it is crucial that the team comes up victorious. There will be so much slander if he’s making all of that for a .500 or worse team.
We’ll see what the Vikings have up their sleeve this week to try and stymie the Chicago defense.
Bears in Search of Critical Win
Trying to snap a losing skid is never easy. Trying to do it without your starting running back makes things very difficult. David Montgomery being out of the lineup, is a huge blow, especially when you look at who is on the depth chart behind him. Ryan Nall, rookie Artavis Pierce and then Cordarelle Patterson. That’s it.
This means that we need to see Nick Foles turn the clock back in order for the Bears to win. He’s built solid chemistry with Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney, though most other guys have struggled. He hasn’t been able to get Jimmy Graham going much.
If the Bears defense can pressure Kirk Cousins and the corners can make plays, Foles won’t have to carry the team on his back.
Vikings Win Away from Home
Make it three in a row for Minnesota. Chicago’s once-promising start now sees them with a 5-5 record.
