ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is home to $10,000 High Roller tournaments, which were originally scheduled for the start of December. However, the venue suspended these events and rescheduled them for 2021. Wynn jumped in to save the day, creating a small series of its own to cater to the players who already arrived in Sin City.
Therefore, Wynn decided to offer three events but then added one more to it, all of them being $10,000 High Roller competitions. The series turned out to be quite successful. It hosted a total of 196 entrants all together and awarded $1.96 million in prizes.
Because it was so successful, Wynn decided to continue with daily $10K events on December 10-12 and 17-19. Ideally, these events will take place every week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Wynn $10K Events Winners
Before we start talking about the winners of the four events, it’s worth mentioning one name before that — Matthew Wantman. He wasn’t really a winner of any event but turned out to be one of the most successful players of the series as he managed to make it to the final table in three out of four events.
In the first event, he ended fifth for $39,200 and then also hit the rail in the fifth place for $51,299. In Event #3, he finished a runner-up, winning a total of $135,000. All in all, Wantman earned $225,400 in prizes.
Wynn High Roller Event #1 took place on December 3 and welcomed a total of 39 entries who created the prize pool of $490,000. The winner was Martin Zamani, who won a total of $140,107 for his effort. Zamani’s final opponent was Christopher Brewer, who earned $134,293 as a runner-up.
One day after that, Event #2 took place, and it attracted 64 entries, becoming the biggest of all four events. The total prize pool was $640,000, and the player who won was Sean Winter — one of the living legends of poker. Winter snatched a total of $179,200 as the first-placed player. Winter had to focus on a player named Jackob Daniels from The Woodlands, TX, who had to settle for the consolation prize of $128,000.
The Saturday event attracted a total of 57 players, creating a prize pool of $570,000. The winner was Ray Qartomy, who faced Matthew Wantman in the heads up but denied him the prize. Qartomy won a total of $150,000 in the end.
The last event to take place as a part of the series happened on Sunday, December 6. It wasn’t as popular as the previous three, as it attracted only 26 entries who created the prize pool of $260,000. Jared Jaffee was the player who celebrated in the end, winning $119,600 in the process. He faced Sean Perry in the heads-up but managed to deny him the price, so Perry won $72,800 for his endeavor.
