Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers will meet in Cali for Sunday Night Football in a game that everyone will be watching. The Packers started with a horrible loss before bouncing back with a dominant win over the Lions in primetime. And as for the 49ers, they have dealt with the mounting injuries in stride, beginning the year with a 2-0 mark.
The questions will be mostly for GB and about how they may come out in this game. They have had two very opposite performances to begin the year and could surprise in either the best or the worst way.
Aaron Rodgers went from abysmal to dominant over the course of two weeks, but it’s hard to excuse given how the Saints got battered last week by a Panthers team.
And as for the 49ers, they are down several running backs but continuing to play. Jimmy G is still heading up the offense, with #3 pick Trey Lance waiting in the wings. Usually, the rookie has begun to hear his name circulating in rumors around the league that his day is coming.
Not in this case, as Garoppolo is looking good, and the team is off the hot start they wanted.
Betting Odds & Lines
Sunday night’s spread is currently set at SF -3. The over/under is 50.5 points. The Pack moneyline is 150, and the Niners moneyline is -170.
GB Aiming for 2-1 Mark
The last game the Packers played ended with all smiles and an honest appearance by Rodgers on Pat McAfee’s daily show. They know they started slow and had to bounce back, so, under the lights, that is exactly what they were able to do. This is a team with too much talent to lose games 38-3, regardless of the summer.
Aaron Jones continued to be a TD machine, crossing the end zone four times and showing to be an elite receiving back. It’s bad news for AJ Dillon and his fantasy owners, but the wins are the only thing that truly matters. This team has so much talent and hopes to get another Super Bowl in Rodgers’s window.
This is a tough battle, and they will need to lean on their D.
Niners Seeking 3-0 Mark
2-0 is good no matter how you slice it, so the Niners start has shown them to have some real promise. They have talent across the board, though it has been Deebo Samuel and George Kittle carrying the receiving corps early on. To start like this with virtually nothing from Brandon Aiyuk is very impressive.
The defense has continued to do what it’s known for, as Kyle Shanahan’s team is sound in all different areas. Elijah Mitchell is set to shoulder the load at RB, with rookie Trey Sermon healthy again and ready to try and get some opportunities too.
They also have former Ravens and Raiders RB Trenton Cannon out there who figures to get a few attempts.
49ers Win
The game will be tight, but GB will lose and fall to 1-2. Book it.
