Kansas continues to do what it always does, pile up large amounts of victories in the Big 12. Should the No. 8 Jayhawks hold off Oklahoma State Monday night at home, Kansas (20-4, 10-2) will have won at least ten conference games for the 28th straight season. Oklahoma State (12-12, 5-7) is hoping an upset victory on the road could help the Cowboys get back on the right track.
The Cowboys, who have a 2-6 record on the road, have lost five of their last seven games. Kansas is an 11-point favorite, and the over/under is set at 141.5 points. The Jayhawks beat Oklahoma State by 11 points on the road earlier this season.
Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview
Kansas is solid on both ends of the floor but offensively is where the Jayhawks shine. The Jayhawks lead the conference by averaging 79.6 points per game and rank fourth nationally in field goal percentage, knocking down 49.7 percent of their shots. Senior Ochai Agbaji has been the spark behind Kansas’ offense.
Agbaji leads the Big 12 by averaging 19.9 points per game and ranks eighth nationally in 3-point percentage, making 44.5 percent of his attempts. Senior forward David McCormack has five double-doubles this season, and he averages 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Christian Braun, who averages 15.3 points per game, and Jalen Wilson (14.3) also contribute in double figures scoring per game.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Betting Preview
Oklahoma State is 2-4 against ranked opponents this season, having previously beaten Baylor and Texas. When the Cowboys have been successful in Big 12 play, Oklahoma State has been causing havoc on defense. In the Cowboys’ five conference victories, Oklahoma State collected 7.8 steals and blocked 5.6 shots per game.
The Cowboys’ offense is led by Avery Anderson III and Bryce Thompson, contributing 11.3 and 10.8 points per game. Isaac Likekele has provided Oklahoma State with a charge, leading the team with 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. The Cowboys have struggled to shoot from the perimeter, ranking 329th nationally by making 30.2 percent of its 3-point shots.
Kansas vs. Oklahoma State Betting Prediction
Kansas is 10-13-1 against the spread this season, while Oklahoma State is 9-14-1. The over is 12-12 in Oklahoma State’s games this season, while the total has gone over in 15 of Kansas’ 24 games. In the first meeting between the teams, the score was tied at halftime before the Jayhawks pulled away in the second half.
However, that result is a little fluky as the Jayhawks missed 19 straight shots to end the first half. That is unlikely to happen in the friendly confines of Allen Fieldhouse.
We should be in for an exciting match! Expect Kansas to run away with a victory and cover the double-digit spread. The Jayhawks want to protect their spot at the top of the conference and won’t want to give ground to an Oklahoma State conference stuck in the bottom half of the conference.
