When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, not only did businesses collapse, several gaming companies canceled their events and postponed others indefinitely. The World Series of Poker was unlucky to be on the receiving end of the pandemic.
When the World Series of Poker 2021 moved its events to the fall, many players thought this was the end of the World Series of Poker. However, WSOP just released a schedule for 2022, proving that WSP is alive and active like never before.
The 53rd schedule will be running for three months, starting from May 32 to July 20. The Main Event will happen from July 3 to July 16, and it will be a $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship.
From July 6, there will be four starting flights happening daily. July 7 will be Day 2A and 2B, while July 8 will be Day 2C and 2D. Attending players will come together in a single field on July 9 for Day 3.
From Day 3, the Main Event will run its course to the end. WSOP has scheduled July 15 as the first day of the nine-handled final table. The final table will hold four poker players. The World Series of Poker will crown the winner on July 16.
The WSOP is in Las Vegas for the First Time
For the first time in the history of the World Series of Poker, it will be on the Las Vegas Strip. WSOP is leaving Rio for Paris and Bally’s.
According to Ceasers, the facilities in Las Vegas Strip will hold more than 600 poker tables. The said capacity will be the first largest tournament capacity since the World Series of Poker started.
Paris will house the main cage, and the television center will be at Bally’s Event Center. These two venues are connected, making the event run smoothly.
WSOP will have a $500 buy-in event during the opening weekend to celebrate the move to the Las Vegas Strip. The opening weekend is labeled “The Housewarming” and will have a $5 million guaranteed award pool.
Other WSOP Events and Highlights
As the World Series of Poker plans to go to the Las Vegas Strip, it has planned other tournaments. WSOP will be having a $1,000 buy-in Million Bounty from July 2 to July 4.
July 2 will be a regular tournament day. From July 3, poker players will earn a random reward for every player they win against.
Amongst the bounties is $1 million. The WSOP tournament of champions will be different this year. It will have a $1 million free roll for the poker players who will have bracelets during the summer and players who secured a gold ring during the 2021-2022 World Series of Poker Circuit.
The Heads-Up-No-Limit Hold’em Championship is increasing to a $25,000 buy-in, and the $777 Lucky Sevens event will have an assured $777,777 as first prize.
The World Series of Poker has slated a $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty tournament. In the Hall of Fame, players will play for free. However, every participating member will have a bounty equivalent to the year WSOP initiated them into the Hall on their head.
WSOP will announce the 2022 Poker Hall of Fame inductee during the tournament. The World Series of Poker will update this year’s events as the year progresses.
