As things currently stand, both teams stand a great chance of locking up top five seeds in the Western Conference, with the Golden State Warriors battling for a top-two spot and the Dallas Mavericks jockeying for a spot in the middle of the pack.
The Warriors are back to being one of the top teams in the league after a two-year hiatus from the playoffs, as Stephen Curry is right back in the mix for the MVP Award.
The Mavericks are led by young phenom Luka Doncic, who figures to find himself in those same conversations in the not-so-distant future, if not this season.
The line opened up at Warriors -4 with an over/under of 219, where they stick as of this writing.
Dallas Mavericks Betting Preview
Luka Doncic has been absolutely electric recently, as he is averaging 37.0 points to go along with 10.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game in his last six games, leading the Mavs to a 4-2 record during that stretch.
When Doncic gets going like this, the Mavs are a tough team to stop, which is a huge reason why they’re in great positioning for a top-five seed in the West.
While they possess a young superstar in Doncic, they find themselves sitting 24th in the league in scoring with a 106.7 points per game average. However, they make up for their lack of scoring with their defense, allowing just 103.5 points per game, which puts them second in the NBA.
This season, Dallas is 33-26-1 against the spread and 21-37-2 on over/unders. They are 15-14 as the away team.
Golden State Warriors Betting Preview
The chef has been cookin’, as Steph Curry has been averaging 27.0 points on 48.9 percent shooting to go along with 8.0 assists per game, although the Dubs have won just two times during that stretch.
After a hot start to the season, the Warriors have dipped in the standings a little bit, but as long as Klay Thompson continues to work his way back to full health, Draymond Green returns and gets back to being the menace we’ve all been accustomed to seeing on both sides of the floor, and Andrew Wiggins continues to provide an extra punch as a scorer and wing defender, the Warriors should still be in great shape come the playoffs to make a deep run.
This season, Golden State is 30-26-4 against the spread and 25-33-2 on over/unders. They are a league-best 26-6 as the home team at Chase Center.
Betting Prediction
Both teams have been good in their own right this season, but the Warriors have seemed to struggle without Draymond Green, losing several winnable games without him.
The Mavs, on the other hand, are streaking, although they took a close loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday.
While the Warriors are favored, this seems like a game the Mavericks can actually come in and steal, given recent trends of both teams.
Pick: Mavericks +4
