Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels are both underachieving in the American League in the 2022 season, and they need to turn it around in a hurry.
The projected pitching match-up on Tuesday, June 28, will be Johnny Cueto (1-4 record, 3.19 ERA) for the Chicago White Sox and Chase Silseth (1-2 record, 4.96 ERA) for the Los Angeles Angels. The first pitch will be at 9:38 p.m. ET at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.
Chicago and Los Angeles need to get themselves out of this rut and get back into the playoff race in their respective divisions. The Angels open up as favorites at -1.5 runs.
Chicago White Sox Massive Underachievers
Chicago has been massive underachievers this season. They were supposed to be one of the favorites to win the World Series.
The White Sox are currently third in the American League Central with a 34-38 record so far this season. Tony La Russa is their manager.
Jose Abreu has appeared in 70 games for Chicago. His batting average is .267, with nine home runs and 33 RBIs, along with zero stolen bases. Abreu has recorded four hits in his last three games but has one RBI to show for it.
Luis Robert has appeared in 56 games for the White Sox. His batting average is .289 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs, along with 11 stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. Robert has been held without a hit in the last two of three games played.
Johnny Cueto has appeared in eight games for the Chicago White Sox so far this season. In 48 innings pitched, he has struck out 40 batters. Cueto, in his last three starts, has struck out at least four or more batters in those contests, with striking out seven in his last start on 6/23 against the Baltimore Orioles.
Los Angeles Angels Hitting Their Woes
After being off to such a promising start to the 2022 MLB regular season, the Los Angeles Angels are in third place in the American League West standings with a 36-40 record. Phil Nevin is currently the interim manager.
Mike Trout has appeared in 67 games so far this season for Los Angeles. His batting average is .286 with 22 home runs and 45 RBIs, along with zero stolen bases. Trout has at least one hit in his last two of three games played.
Shohei Ohtani has played in 73 games so far this season for the Angels. His batting average is .260 with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs, along with seven stolen bases and five caught stealing attempts. Ohtani has at least one RBI in his last one of three games played.
The Los Angeles Angels’ pitching once again this season has been underwhelming. Chase Silseth has pitched in 16.1 innings and has struck out 11. He has struck out one or fewer batters in his last two of three starts.
White Sox/Angels Betting Pick
The Chicago White Sox’s record against the spread so far this season is 33-39; meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels’ record against the spread so far this season is 35-41.
The over/under is set at 9.0 runs. Chicago and Los Angeles are both going to score runs because the pitching match-up is not favorable here for this to potentially reach the under.
They both desperately need this game to win. However, the Chicago White Sox feel like a better baseball team than the Los Angeles Angels do.
There will be tons of runs scored in this baseball game, and it is going to be a very long night for the pitchers. A 14-12 game could potentially be in play for this one.
Take the Chicago +1.5 over Los Angeles and the over 9.0 runs!
