After much strife in the regular season, two teams that were amongst the NFC elite last season will be squaring off against each other when the Los Angeles Rams are on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
To say they have both had a rough go at this season is underselling it, as both the Rams and the Buccaneers are in a questionable state between all of their injuries and their lack of depth.
This may finally be the year where Tom Brady is officially allowed to be in the 40-year-old quarterback bracket, where he had seemed to be defying time for years.
While time is catching up to Tom, Matthew Stafford has not looked nearly as sharp as he did last season and only seems to have a connection with Cooper Kupp.
With both teams struggling equally, the Buccaneers draw the home favorite for this game at -3.5.
If Kupp goes away, this whole team falls on its face
To see a team so openly dependent on one player that isn’t a quarterback is baffling, but the Rams’ offense is entirely predicated on the ability of Cooper Kupp to perform.
He went down on the field late in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but it is too early to predict whether or not this will impact his play moving forward.
With that said, the Rams are going to have to start figuring out some other options as pass catchers, whether that’s Tyler Higbee, Allen Robinson, or some other receiver.
They have nothing going for them in the rushing attack, but there doesn’t seem to be much time left for them to figure it all out. A win over the Buccaneers could boost their ego quite a bit.
Time for Brady and the Bucs to get their revenge
After a great season last year, the Buccaneers brought their playoff matchup against the Rams down to the wire, but ultimately fell short.
While this isn’t nearly the same stakes of carving a path to the Super Bowl, the Buccaneers are going to want to be able to get their revenge in this game and take the Rams down.
After losing control of the division with their Thursday night loss, it won’t take much for the Buccaneers to be fired up ahead of this game.
As long as they hold Kupp in check, it should be no problem for them.
Rams @ Buccaneers Betting Prediction
The spread on this game is pretty normal in terms of how it looks for a home team over another team that is on the same skill level.
Brady has to find it this game. His touch has been off, and the relationship he’s had with top receivers is missing. This is the game to right the ship.
The Rams’ defense should not be able to stop the Bucs’ receivers on the outside, so take the Buccaneers on their home field to win over the Rams at -3.5.
