If you signed up for casino training at the University at Buffalo, you are short a class because the University canceled the contract with the online education service offering them.
After the announcement that the casino training classes would be offered in a partnership between Gatlin Educational Services and the University, in which they would offer dealer courses in poker, blackjack and baccarat developed by Johnny Chan Academy, Upper administration found out about the offering and canceled the contract on Oct. 9th.
According to Author Page, who is the vice president for news services and periodicals, the casino training courses didn’t fit in with the University at Buffalo mission.
In a written statement Page wrote, “Eager to respond to marketplace demands and provide courses and training for members of the community, Millard Fillmore College at the University at Buffalo recently scheduled online courses to prepare individuals for jobs in the gaming industry. When this decision was brought to the attention of the university’s academic leadership, it was decided that the courses would not be in line with the mission of Ultimate Bet and they have been canceled.”
According to a Gatlin spokesperson it was just the casino related courses affected and they will still offer other online courses for the University. The University currently runs funded research on the Research Institute on Addictions where among other topics, gambling addiction is studied.
The online casino training provided by Gatlin Educational Services is being offered at Trocaire College and Erie Community College as well as the Chan Academy private school. You can get hands on training at the Niagara County Community College and the New York Casino Training School.
