Many teams on the fringe of the playoff bubble lost their matchup in Week 16, making for the final two weeks of the regular season to be high stakes.
Thursday Night Football kicks off with the Dallas Cowboys going on the road to take on the Tennessee Titans, and theoretically, this game does not mean much of anything to the Titans.
The Cowboys made an impressive comeback on the Eagles in Week 16 after a rocky start, and while they will need the Eagles to lose the next two games, they do still have a chance to claim the division crown in the NFC East.
With the injury to Ryan Tannehill for the Titans, they have been in a complete freefall, and Malik Willis does not look like he is ready to be a quarterback yet in the league.
As such, even on the road, the Cowboys find themselves favored over the Titans at a spread of -6.
Relying on Dak Prescott for the rest of the season
Each and every game has its peaks and valleys for Dak Prescott at quarterback. It started in Week 16 on about the third or fourth play of the game when Prescott threw a pick-six.
For the rest of the game, he managed to lock it down, and was able to put up a significant amount of stats to put them over the top.
If he can clean up a few of the mistakes and the turnovers, the Cowboys are a really hard team to stop. They have two great running backs and even picked up a new weapon at receiver in T.Y. Hilton.
Their defense has lost a step, but they still have the talent to pull it together and get hot at the right point of the season.
Don’t place any bets on Malik Willis
After a strong mid-season push by the Titans, they have gone winless for more than a couple of weeks now. Most of that can be blamed on the injury to Ryan Tannehill.
As a replacement, Malik Willis has been less than ideal, and he continues to struggle to put the ball downfield.
This causes a domino effect in their offense, because Derrick Henry cannot run as effectively with how much defenses are given room to sell out for him.
Henry can only carry them so far, but the Titans will be looking ahead to their matchup against the Jaguars anyways.
Cowboys @ Titans Betting Prediction
In the big picture of things, this game does not mean too much to either of these teams. The Titans are destined to wait until the final week of the season to try and take down the Jaguars, while the Cowboys are likely going to be stuck with the five seed.
That said, the Titans can’t be trusted with Malik Willis at quarterback, and it is likely that they will score less than 20 points in this game.
Every sign points towards the Cowboys, so roll with them on the road at -6.
