The college basketball season is ramping up as the conference tournaments get underway. Fortunately for the Big Ten and the teams looking to make the NCAA tournament, they still have one game left in the conference. The Michigan Wolverines head to Indiana to take on the Hoosiers in what could be a massive game for both teams.
Both teams have been disappointing throughout the season but showed they can play much better than their current record shows. On the flip side, they have also had games where they simply can’t get enough done on either side of the basketball, causing some concern. If either team wants to make some noise heading into the back end of the season, Indiana and Michigan both need this win.
Huge Game for Indiana
When looking at what Indiana has done this season, it’s easy to see why this team will be in the NCAA tournament but may not achieve the type of success they hope to. They enter this game at 20-10 throughout the regular season and 11-8 in the Big 10.
They played Michigan in February and came away with a 1-point win as Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 28 points. For an Indiana team that has the chance of doing something similar on Sunday afternoon, Jackson-Davis will have to continue being the guy for them.
He leads Indiana in points, rebounds, and assists. He’s averaging a double-double on the season with 20.3 points and 11.1 rebounds. Davis is also leading the team in blocks with 2.8. per game.
It won’t be an easy task for him as Hunter Dickinson will do whatever he can to try to stop him, but Jackson-Davis has already proven that he can score on him, which could be the deciding factor in this game once again.
Will Michigan Do Enough?
The Michigan Wolverines have arguably been the most disappointing team in college basketball this season. There’s still a chance that they will make the NCAA tournament, but they will need things to go their way.
Not only that, but they will need to win this game and a game or two in the Big Ten Tournament if they want to secure that spot. If Michigan can find a way to win nearly 20 games overall, they should find themselves in a good position.
The deciding factor will be Dickinson, averaging 18 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. He’s a junior out of Virginia who has been around the program for quite some time, and this could be his last regular season game in a Wolverine uniform.
Michigan Wolverines vs. Indiana Hoosiers Prediction
With this game in Indiana, it isn’t a bad time to back the Hoosiers at -4 for -110 odds. This season, they’ve been much better on their home court (14-2) than on the road (5-7).
Furthermore, Michigan is 3-6 on the road this season and hasn’t been able to get much going.
