We have an exciting NHL contest on Tuesday night as the Calgary Flames will take on the Minnesota Wild. Calgary has been playing excellent hockey this season throughout the past few games and has a real opportunity of making the playoffs this season.
Minnesota, on the other hand, might be one of the top teams in the NHL this season as they’re 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and have now won four straight. They have the third most points in the Western Conference and will look to add on to that total to help them secure that three seed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With this one being played in Minnesota, it’s not surprising to see the Wild coming in at -140 on the money line. Calgary enters this one at +120 and the over/under is currently slotted at 6.
Can Minnesota Beat Calgary Again?
When looking at what the Minnesota Wild have done this season, it’s easy to see why people do think that this could be a sleeper team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Although the Wild do have 78 points thus far, some still are saying that they might need to show a bit more.
On the flip side of that, many do believe that they are a sleeper team and that’s because of some of the wins that they have throughout the season. Just in the past few weeks, they have wins over the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, and this same Calgary Flames team.
What works for the Wild is their ability to keep the puck out of the back of the net. Although they do have some spells where they don’t do enough in terms of scoring, Calgary has proven that they can keep the puck out of the back in that better than anyone in the NHL this season.
Flames Could Bounce Back
The Flames are one of the more interesting teams in the NHL because they’re truly one of those squads that could win on any given night, but also lose to anybody on any given night. Their past few games show that as they just were able to take down the Dallas Stars, but also have losses to the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leaves, and Vegas Golden Knights in some of their past 10 games.
They had a great win over the New York Rangers during the middle of February and that’s exactly why people started to believe that this team might be better than their record indicates. Now, they will need to bounce back after losing to the Wild on Saturday, and it could be a good thing for everybody that wants to bet on them. It’s tough to beat a team twice in a week span.
Calgary Flames vs Minnesota Wild Prediction
With this game being played in Minnesota, taking the Wild to win this game outright at -140 odds doesn’t seem like a bad idea. The Wild have played well recently and while it’s tough for them to beat them again this week, the Wild are simply the better team here and should be able to come away with the win if they play their best hockey.
