The Charlotte Hornets will again take on the Dallas Mavericks after beating them two nights ago. This could be one of the more interesting games of the Sunday slate, and that’s something to think about here.
Dallas is undoubtedly the better team than the Hornets, but they’ve struggled against teams they should’ve beaten all year, even after Kyrie Irving joined the team. If Dallas is going to make a playoff push, there’s legitimately no better time than now.
The team sits on the outskirts of the play-in tournament with the current number 11 seed in the Western Conference.
Despite the brutal play recently, Dallas comes into this one as an 11-point favorite.
Can Dallas Figure This Thing Out?
When looking at the season that the Dallas Mavericks have had, it’s easy to see why people believe this team has a chance of playing well in the playoffs, but it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be the case. In terms of talent, Dallas has everything they need with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. However, they haven’t been able to win games at a high level, leaving some worry for the postseason.
If they can’t be teams like the Charlotte Hornets when their season was on the line two nights ago, how can anybody expect them to beat teams like the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, and Golden State Warriors?
Sunday is the perfect bounce-back spot for them, and they should come out with even more energy than they have had throughout the past few nights. The lack of energy for Dallas has been a significant cause for concern, and head coach Jason Kidd has even said that a few times. Luka said he’s not enjoying basketball that much right now, so something is happening in Dallas.
Perhaps, this could be another situation where Kyrie Irving is being a headache in the locker room, although that doesn’t seem likely at the moment as some have reported that he’s been a good locker room guy.
Charlotte Looking for Another Win
The Charlotte Hornets have undoubtedly been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, and there’s a legitimate argument they have been the worst. Despite having a better record than the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets, there should be no debating at this point that Charlotte has been one of the top five worst teams in the league all season long.
The team has struggled for a few reasons, but most can be attributed to their injuries. However, even when healthy, Charlotte has struggled. It’s tough to say they will beat the Mavericks twice in two days.
Charlotte Hornets vs. Dallas Mavericks Prediction
This game will be more interesting than many expect, but taking the Hornets +11 seems like a good idea. Dallas shouldn’t be at giving 11 points to anybody in the NBA right now, and since they’ve been struggling this much, hopping on Charlotte doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
