We have arguably the best game of the night in the NBA on Thursday as the Denver Nuggets will be taking on the Phoenix Suns. Both of these teams are locked into their respective positions in the Western Conference, as the Nuggets are the #1 seed, and the Suns are the #4 seed.
Although both of those teams are locked into their playoff spot, there is a chance that they could be playing some of their top players in this game. Phoenix has not submitted an injury report just yet, but it would make sense if they do allow Kevin Durant to continue playing as they ramp up for the playoffs.
Denver, on the other hand, has played most of their guys all season long, and it’s not out of the question that they do possibly decide to play some of their top players. Nikola Jokic is questionable, and so is Jamal Murray, which is something to watch out for here.
Phoenix comes into this one at -7 on the spread line.
Watch out for Phoenix and Kevin Durant
With the addition of Kevin Durant, Phoenix looks to be arguably the top team in the NBA this season. There’s a reason why they currently have one of the top odds in the league to win an NBA title this season. They come into this one at +450 to win the NBA title and +210 to win the Western Conference. Those are better odds than every team in the Western Conference and are only behind the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics in the entire NBA.
Kevin Durant has been playing ridiculous basketball, just as many expected. Although he’s had a few injuries to deal with this season, when he’s on the court, he’s undoubtedly one of the top three players in the NBA. He’s averaging 25.6 points and shooting 58% from the field and 51.6% from 3-point range. If he can keep shooting with this type of efficiency, it’s tough to see anybody beating Phoenix when it matters most, including on Thursday.
Will Denver Play Everyone?
The Denver Nuggets are up for an interesting task on Thursday, even if some of their top players do play. With the possibility of guys sitting out for them, this game could be a blowout for Phoenix, but if Denver does play their main guys, this does look to be a good time for them to prove that they belong.
Although they’ve proven throughout the season that they can beat some of the top teams in basketball on any given night, this looks to be their biggest competition in the Western Conference outside of the Golden State Warriors. Getting a win against Phoenix could be huge for their confidence.
Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns Betting Preview Prediction
With the possibility of Denver deciding to sit some of their top guys, taking Phoenix -7 right now doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
If it’s decided that Phoenix is going to play all of their guys and Denver is going to sit everybody, this line should change a ton. Phoenix might already be the better team in this situation, so taking them regardless at -7 seems to be a good bet.
